Description
The broad bean is native to Asia but has been cultivated since ancient times also in Italy, especially in the southern lands. Fava beans have always been linked to superstitious beliefs. According to a widespread belief in Italy, finding 7 seeds (instead of 6) in a bean pod is good luck. Shelled broad beans are rich in phosphorus, which contributes to normal energy metabolism and the maintenance of normal bones and teeth. They are also rich in fiber and protein.
